He also enjoyed going to Canada fishing with his son, Jeff, every summer in July. In his younger years, he spent many years going to Fort Collins, Colo., trout fishing with his very good friend Al “Snuffy” Oestreich and family who lived in Ft. Collins.
Al managed the Lac du Flambeau Indian Bowl during the early 70s for the Lac du Flambeau Tribe. He also served in the United States Army, as well as the Wisconsin National Guard in Tomahawk for seven years. Al was a member of the Lac du Flambeau Lions and a volunteer for the Lac du Flambeau ambulance in the early 70s and 80s. He is survived by his wife, Beverly; three children, Bruce (Tiffany) Bauman, Brenda Saglin, and Jeffery (Cindy) Bauman; 14 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother, Martin (Fran) Bauman and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A visitation was held from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Bolger Funeral Home in Woodruff on Tuesday, Sept. 20, and on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Minocqua followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. A burial with military honors was at Memorial Cemetery in Lac du Flambeau.
