Peggy was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls, where she belonged to a number of organizations in prior years and volunteered as a parish nurse. Peggy was also an associate member of Rock of Ages Lutheran Church in Minocqua, where she spent most of her summers for the last 25 years.
Peggy enjoyed traveling with Lee and the family, and she was a loyal Packer fan and an avid reader. She especially enjoyed her up north home in Woodruff, which she always described as her “little piece of heaven on earth.” Most of all, Peggy enjoyed being a “Mom and Nana” and absolutely treasured every single moment with her three grandchildren. She never wanted to miss any church, school or other event in which they were involved.
In addition to her husband Lee, Peggy is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Kahler of Hobart; her son, Allan (Shelly) of Oshkosh; and her grandchildren, Libby Kahler; Cooper Wilcox; and Brayden Wilcox. She is further survived by her sister Joanne Leonsteiner of Watertown, and brothers David (Tracy) of Rochester, Minn., Don of Scottsdale, Ariz and Bruce (Debbie) of Kiel, and also her sister-in-law Betsy Wilcox of Madison, as well as many nieces and nephews. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Catherine Dittmer, in-laws Frank and Gladys Wilcox, brother-in-law Jerry Wilcox and nephew Ryan Wilcox.
Peggy, we will all miss you dearly, but we celebrate knowing that your suffering is over and that you are now home in the presence of our heavenly Father.
“Well done, good and faithful servant. You have fought the good fight, run the race and have been found faithful.”
A memorial service to celebrate Peggy’s life will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Kyle Backhaus officiating.
Relatives and friends may greet the family at church on Friday, from 5 to 7 p.m. and again on Saturday, from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
Peggy’s family is extremely grateful to Dr. Kumar, Dr. Woody, Brenda, Debbie and the entire staff at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic for their many years of loving compassionate care. The family would also like to thank the caregivers at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice and Sheboygan Senior Community who provided Peggy’s care near the end of her journey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated in Peggy’s name to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund.
