Paul L. Schuetze, 57, of Manitowoc passed away on Friday, September 2, at Holy Family Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc following an unexpected allergic reaction to a wasp sting. Paul had been registered as an organ donor for his entire life and was able to offer the gift of life by donating to many recipients in need of life-saving and life-improving organs.
Paul was born May 22, 1965, in Manitowoc, son of Mary (Logan) Schuetze and the late Wayne Schuetze. Their family cottage is located on Little Spider Lake in Arbor Vitae.
He was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the Class of 1983. Paul worked as a union carpenter for Miron Construction, Boldt, and Joe Schmidt and Sons.
Paul was passionate about boating and fishing whether it was in the secret spot at the cottage, ice fishing the Manitowoc Marina, or on the ocean when he was a young adult living in Florida with friends. He enjoyed working on home improvements for his and his family members’ homes and the cottage. He was a lifelong resident of Manitowoc and a lifelong weekend resident of Little Spider Lake. He enjoyed raising his children here. Paul began dating Patti in 2014 and enjoyed life with their beloved black labs, who loved when they got to jump in the lake almost as much as Paul did.
Survivors include his mother; Mary Schuetze, Manitowoc; his significant other Patti Vetting, Valders; his three children: Jonathan Schuetze, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Logan Schuetze, Manitowoc; Angel (Shane) Engeldinger, De Pere; stepson Dennis (Steffanie) Meyer, Augusta, Mich.; his siblings: Joseph Schuetze, Manitowoc; and Angela (Patrick) Katchak, Prospect, K.Y.; his beloved grandchildren: Wesley, Kimber and Aubrey Engeldinger and Macey, Ellery and Maclan Meyer; nephews, Corbin Schuetze and George Katchak; and niece Samantha Schuetze.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Schuetze; his brother, Chaplain Captain USAF John Schuetze; grandparents, Elaine and Ralph Schuetze and Charlotte and Joseph Logan; uncles, Philip (Kris) Schuetze, Manitowoc; and David (Cynthia) Logan, Pellham, N.Y.
Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family by visiting www.pfefferfuneralhome.com.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc is assisting the Schuetze family with arrangements.
