Lawrence J. Blomberg was born to Ozzie and Bernice Blomberg on May 15, 1948, just two weeks after they had opened the Hiawatha Inn just five miles south of Minocqua.
Larry grew up and enjoyed the Northwoods and was a star athlete in school, alongside working with Ozzie and Bernice from the age of 12. As a young adult, Larry opened and operated the High Wings Kennels for six years, raising and training field dogs.
Larry moved to Madison in 1978, and met his wife, Jane, in 1981. They lived in Madison until 1989, when they moved to California to live and work there.
In 1999, the urging of family, Larry’s mom Bernice, and their four grandchildren were powerful reasons to return to Madison, where they lived for 22 years, until Larry’s death in August 2022, after a battle with cancer.
Friends have remembered him for his sense of humor, his love of family, and his joy in skiing and bicycling.
