Sandi was born on September 8, 1968 to Gladys and Bernard Daniels in Superior. She grew up with her parents, her older sister, Judy, and her younger brother, Tom, in New London. She was an avid swimmer at the community YMCA, where she made many close friends and won several awards. Sandi was also a member of the New London High School color guard, the National Honor Society, and the band club and jazz band club, where she played saxophone and placed in several state solo ensemble music festivals.
Sandi attended UW – Eau Claire and graduated with a degree to teach high school math. She moved to the Northwoods in 1996 and shortly after began her career with Liberty Mutual Insurance as a temp. Sandi quickly escalated her career at Liberty Mutual and found herself working among a talented and charismatic team in IT as a software engineer. In 2016, she was one of only two women to be awarded Liberty Mutual’s annual IT excellence award; her family and friends are extremely proud of her achievements and hard work.
Sandi enjoyed spending her time with her family and friends. She went on canoe trips to the Boundary Waters and Voyageur’s National Park, and vacations to Cayo Costa, Fla., South Dakota, Disney World, and Canada with friends and family. She also loved to vacation in Mexico and Jamaica with her three sons. Sandi enjoyed her time in the Minocqua area in the outdoors and loved to kayak, paddle board, cross-country ski, bike, swim, hike and camp. She competed in several races, a triathlon, and two halfmarathons. One of her most treasured places was Lake Superior, where she frequented with her family and dogs.
Sandi will be remembered by friends and family as a kind and compassionate friend, mother, sister, daughter, and aunt. She attracted the company of other caring individuals and was known as someone people felt they could be their unfiltered selves with.
Sandi is survived by her sons, Joshua, Adam, and Jake, whom she loved very much, her parents Bernie and Gladys, her sister, Judy, and her brother, Tom. She is preceded in death by her father-in-law, Jerry, and her infant sister, Susan Marie.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 2 at the United Methodist Church of the Pines, with visitation at noon and cookies and coffee to follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to World Kitchen in honor of Sandi Rexroade.
