He attended one year at CSTC Stevens Point and completed the accounting course at Green Bay–Badger Business College. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany for two years. While on leave, he married Juanita Richmond in Eagle River, on July 14, 1952. Upon his honorable discharge, they set up housekeeping in Minocqua where he accepted employment at the Security State Bank, where he stayed for 34 years. He served as CEO, president, and director for the last 17 years until he retired in 1988. He was a member of American Legion Post 89, Minocqua Lions Club, Lakeland Rotary Club, Minocqua Chamber of Commerce, Lakeland Union High School Board, Minocqua Country Club, Timber Ridge Golf Club, Plum Lake Golf Club, and the Meadows Country Club in Sarasota.
After retirement, Bob and Wannie spent 20 full winters in Florida.
He is survived by his three children, Laurie (David) Johnson of Green Bay, Jodie (David) Zajac of Wyoming, Minn., and James (Trish) Johnson of Mukwonago, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and his sister, Rosalie (“Gretch”) Schilling of Minocqua.
He is preceded in death by Wannie, his wife of 60 years, his parents, and sister Florence Rux of Milwaukee.
It was his wish for cremation with a private family service at a later date.
