Bill was a friend to anyone he met. He loved engagement in conversation with family, friends, and anyone he happened to meet. He was generous with his time and talents and to all who needed his help.
Bill was drafted into the Air Force at the age of 18. After service he schooled to become a lineman and worked his entire life for the Oconto County Electric Cooperation in Oconto Falls. After he retired, he and his wife moved to the Minocqua area where they lived together until her death in 2019, after 72 years of marriage. Since he moved to One Penny Place, he became the unofficial social director of the facility. One of his newly acquired skills was knitting. He loved giving his hats, scarves and other projects to local friends and charities.
Bill is survived by his children Cheryl “Cookie” (Gary) Scheffen of Lac du Flambeau, Patricia (Dick) Bechtel of Arbor Vitae and Larry (Cindy Stien) Parshen of Shawano.; three grandchildren, Stacey (Jim) Fischer of Mukwonago, Beth (Scott) Hordesky of Brookfield, Andy (Brittany DeKarske) Parshen of Shawano and five great grandchildren, Brady and Riley Fischer, Anna and Ivy Hordesky and Lillian Parshen. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, only sister Ellen and grandson, Shaun.
A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northwoods Wildlife Center or Oneida County Humane Society.
Bolger Funeral Home is assisting the family, www.bolgerfuneral.com for online condolences.
