Duane graduated from Menasha High School and proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He married Carol Frances (Vollmer) Doede and worked for American Can Company at the Canal Street plant in Menasha.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved playing cards, especially poker and cribbage. He never missed a good fish fry and Manhattan on Fridays and loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved going on the Honor Flight on October 6, 2014.
Duane is survived by his wife Carol Doede and by his children Michael (Linda) Doede of Rhinelander; Chris (Jeffrey) Schommer of Arbor Vitae, and Pauline Hill of Sheboygan, and by his grandchildren Stacie (Clark) Valukas, Stephanie (Alan) Ammerman, Matthew (Alyssa) Schommer, Ben Doede and Jessica Doede and by his great-grandchildren Olin Valukas, Macie and Hannah Ammerman, Leddy and Sonya Schommer and by many other relatives and friends
He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Delores Doede and his sister Jeannie Jaykoski.
Upon his wishes, cremation took place and his family will privately celebrate his life with pizza and beer.
