Gladys loved travel and saw the world, touring China and Israel when they weren’t typical destinations. Her trip of a lifetime was to French Polynesia, Fiji and Australia. She was a talented quilter, needlecrafter, and seamstress and a voracious reader. After Irving’s retirement they moved to the Lake Tomahawk area and spent winters in Texas before returning to live fulltime in Waupaca in 1997. Most recently she lived in Neenah at Island Shores Senior Living. Gladys was an active volunteer with many charitable groups.
Gladys is survived by a daughter Kathy Wege, Neenah; two sons: Dan (Sandra) Petersen, Cross Plains and Steve (Mary) Petersen, Woodruff; five grandchildren; Kurt (Leanne) Wege, Eric Wege, Tyler (Valerie) Petersen, Quinten (Megan) Petersen, and Courtney (Lucas) Keller; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews: and sister-in-law Judy Kolosso. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Irving, sister Leila Lipke, brothers Lawrence Kolosso and Lee Kolosso.
A funeral service was held at on Wednesday, June 1, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waupaca. Burial will be held at a later date at Lakeside Memorial Park in Waupaca.
