Joel A. Green of Presque Isle, passed away peacefully at his home July 24, 2022 at the age of 80. Joel was born February 4, 1942. As a young adult Joel played semi-pro baseball with the Stories Barber Shop team. Later, he was a memorable baseball coach that left a lasting impression on many of his players. After graduation, Joel went on to enlist in the U.S Air Force and served four years active duty and two years in reserve. Joel was an avid Chicago Bears fan and ran the 1st and 10 club in Sherrard. He met the love of his life, Sharon Campana, who he went on to marry in November 1961 and shared three children together. Joel moved to the Northwoods to live out the rest of his years. He became Post Commander of the Winegar Post 480 American Legion and served his community and veterans alike. Joel had a sense of humor, and loved talking about his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. He was preceded in death by his wife Sharon Green, mother Marie Christiansen, stepfather Harry Christiansen and father Sidney Green. Survivors include his three children, Curt (Tracee) Green, Sherrard, Anna McMeekan, Matherville, Todd Green, Moline; grandchildren, Timmy McMeekan, Viola, Tabbytha McMeekan, Bettendorf, Jessie (Zack) Green, Sherrard, Amy & Anna Green, Orion Bill Green, Sherrard, Allison Green; great-grandchildren, Bobbie Jo, Olivia and Waylon. A celebration of life ceremony will be held at Winegar Post 480 American Legion in Presque Isle on Aug. 6 from 1 to 3 p.m.
