Bob and Jean lived in the Wausau area for years, running a sales business for the dairy industry.
They moved to the Minocqua area to start and run a real estate business. They bought resortland and subdivided it, then built cottages on Lake McCormick and ran the local tavern at Leisure Shores. They had two sons, Joseph (Mary), Stevens Point, and William (Cheri), Virginia Beach, Va., who survive. Jean was blessed with three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She enjoyed volunteering at Jefferson School as a classroom grandmother, and at St Michael’s Hospital in the surgery waiting room. She compiled her father’s journals into a book, “I Believe,” documenting his life as a pastor in northern Wisconsin.
Jean was strong in her Christian faith, and sang in the choir wherever she lived. She was a member of Presbyterian Women and organized a neighborhood Bible study group. She had an adventurous spirit, and went water skiing in her 90s.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Aug. 7, 2 p.m, at Frame Presbyterian Church, 1300 Main Street, Stevens Point. A time of visitation will precede on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the church. Jean will be laid to rest with Bob at Wilderness Rest Cemetery, Lake Tomahawk, on Monday Aug. 8.
