She graduated from Clinton High School and attended St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Racine. She practiced as a registered nurse for 40 years. She had a special passion for elderly and Alzheimer patients. During her practice she enjoyed being a primary instructor for nursing assistants, and being a competency tester for the State of Wisconsin.
She married her husband, Dan Hogan, Jan. 3, 1965, and enjoyed 57 years of marriage. They raised their son in Platteville. After living there for 18 years moved to Eagle River. She loved the Northwoods for its nature, wildlife and scenic beauty through the change of seasons.
Special interests included traveling, gardening, reading, arts and crafts, writing poetry and books for her grandsons. With her beloved husband, trips to Canada, a Caribbean cruise and a trip to Ireland included their many travels. Monthly visits to Green Bay to spend time with family were her favorite.
Proceeding in death are parents, Earl and Vivian Clay. Survivors include her husband Dan D. Hogan of Eagle River, son Dan J. Hogan of Green Bay, grandsons Connor, Dylan and Brady Hogan of Green Bay, brother Gene Clay of Crandon.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother. Often heard saying, “They are the sunshine of my life.” She was always a positive person, and had a wonderful sense of humor that brought joy to others.
A summary of her life would be: “She lived every moment, laughed every day, and loved without boundaries.” She will be missed by family and numerous friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life memorial service Thursday July 28, at the Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home in Eagle River. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m.
