Judy was raised in Lac du Flambeau. She graduated from Lakeland Union High School in Minocqua, and went to college in Marquette Mich. Her early career was working for the Lac du Flambeau Health Department in various capacities. She worked in Chicago and Washington D.C. for the federal government in accounting and bookkeeping positions. She eventually moved home to Lac du Flambeau and served as the director of bingo at Lake of the Torches for 35 years. Judy enjoyed antiquing, reading, decorating, movies, and most of all spending time with her son and grandchildren. Judy was an avid believer of God, and an active member of the Baptist Church of Lac du Flambeau and served as the treasurer for several years. Judy had a strong, level-headed personality and a heart of gold. She was loved and respected by many.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Spencer and Marion Smith, her son Keith Birdsbill, her late husband Frank Birdsbill, her siblings Shirley Philemon, Donald Smith, Laverne Poupart, Farrel LaGarde, Spencer Smith Jr., Charmaine Smith. She is survived by her sister Deanna Smith LaBarge and leaves her legacy to cherish her memory, her grandchildren Hannah Robenhorst, Sage Birdsbill, Sierra Birdsbill, her great-grandchildren Genesis Lopez Birdsbill and Shiloh Moline, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 19, at the Multi Purpose Building in Lac du Flambeau with services on Wednesday, July 20 followed by interment at Memorial Cemetery in Lac du Flambeau.
