Peter William Kable of Boulder Junction, 66, passed away from COVID on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Howard Young Medical Center. Peter was born November 12, 1955 to William and Irene (McCoy) Kable. He graduated from Lakeland Union High School and attended North Central Technical College where he completed an associate’s degree in residential design. He also completed an associate’s degree in building construction from Gogebic Community College. He worked several construction jobs before working at Gabert Construction for 24 years. He recently retired from Camp Manito-wish YMCA after 18 years of service as an assistant property manager and sr. maintenance assistant. Peter was an active member of his community. He was a long-time member of St. Anne’s Church and the Boulder Junction Shooting Range. The shooting range was his passion. He enjoyed trap shooting, teaching hunter safety courses and especially enjoyed teaching youth how to trap shoot. His other hobbies were hunting, muskie fishing, and snowmobiling. Peter was a kind and selfless man who would help anyone in need. He had a positive attitude about everything and made many friends throughout his life. His retirement announcement from Camp Manito-wish stated, “Peter’s firm belief in the Mission and Vision of Camp Manito-wish YMCA was delivered brightly each day during his 18 years of service.” He was a bright, good-natured guy. Words cannot do justice to the wonderful person he was. He is now one of God’s angels. He is survived by his special friend Krista Maurer and family of Boulder Junction; sister Jeraldine Ohlsson of Rhinelander; nephews: Tom Keister of Milwaukee, Mark Ohlsson of Bushnell, Neb. and Nick (Sue) Ohlsson of Harshaw; nieces; Bonnie (Ralph Johnson) Ohlsson of Milladore, and Sherri (special friend Dan) Schnoor of Kronenwetter; great-nephews Jordan Keister, Trevor Keister, Tanner Schnoor and great-niece Kailey Schnoor. He was predeceased by his parents Bill and Irene Kable, sister Betty Keister and husband Don Keister, brother-in-law Pete Ohlsson and nephew Paul Schnoor. A graveside service will be held in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Camp Manito-wish YMCA.
