Lenore M. Shebuski of Lansing Michigan died of natural causes on January 1, 2022. Lenore was born on September 25, 1931 in Stephenson, Michigan, the daughter of Leonard Soman Sr. and Sadonia (Sadie) Emerance Soman (nee Leroy).
Lenore graduated from Antigo High School class of 1948. She was married to her beloved husband, Donald Shebuski, 64 years until his death on April 4, 2018.
Lenore was a dedicated mother, wife and homemaker. In support of her husband’s professional career, she worked as an executive secretary for many years for several companies including the Green Bay Packers, Employer’s Insurance of Wausau, and Michigan State University. However, Lenore’s greatest accomplishment, outside of instilling her values into her children, was her vision in creating a caring and comforting environment for other breast cancer survivors at the Front Room Underfashions in Lansing. Lenore will be fondly remembered by those who knew her for her compassion, caring, drive, tenacity, and her relentless spirit and joy of laughter.
Lenore was an active member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church and the Frank Kohler Memorial Library in Manitowish Waters, as well as the Up-North Model A Club during her retirement. While she would deny it, she enjoyed traveling around the countryside helping Don find “rusty car parts” for their antique cars. Lenore was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and ticket holder. She was also a long-time enthusiastic knitter and greatly enjoyed making things for her family and friends.
Lenore is survived by three children, Ronald (Marisa) of Melbourne, Fla., Joseph (Marie) of DeWitt, Mich. and Susan of Grand Rapids, Mich.; several grandchildren, Ronald Shebuski, Jr, of Green Bay, Neil Shebuski of Grand Rapids, Mich., Alexander Hook of Mason, Mich., Hanna DenBoer (nee Hook) of Grand Rapids, Mich.; great grandson Alden Hook of Mason Mich.; brothers-in-law, Jack Shebuski of Wausau and Daniel (Gene) Shebuski of Prior Lake, Minn.; sisters-in-law, Marlene Shebuski of Antigo, Jeanne Shebuski of Hubertus, and Audrey (Jack) Ellison of Milwaukee, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her dear stepfather John Soman, her brother Leonard Soman Jr. and her granddaughter Jessica Lott (nee Shebuski); brothers-in-law, William Shebuski, Robert Shebuski and Rev. Charles Shebuski; sisters-in-law, Mae Langenbach, Nora Winscher, Margaret Shebuski and Karen Shebuski Renier.
A memorial service will be held in Lansing, Mich. and in Antigo, in May 2022. A funeral mass and burial will take place in Antigo following the memorial service. The family is being assisted by Palmer Bush & Jensen Funeral Home in Lansing and will be assisted by Bradley Funeral Home in Antigo. Burial will be at Queen of Peace Cemetery in Antigo.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Lenore’s memory to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation at: https://www.komen.org/how-to-help/donate/memorial-giving.
