Sally Lee Ham, 88, of Harshaw, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 22.
She was born January 23, 1934 in Grosse Pointe Farms Mich., the daughter of Ford and Gertrude Giroux. She married Robert Ham in August of 1954, and they raised their family in East Detroit, Mich. until 1969 when they moved to Lac du Flambeau, and later to Lake Tomahawk. She and Robert later divorced, and she lived the rest of her life in a house she loved, on a golf course in Harshaw.
She was active in her church, the United Methodist Church of the Pines in Minocqua, where she especially enjoyed the company of her friends in the birthday club. She loved spending time with her family, and exchanged weekly letters for almost fifty years with her sister-in-law Mary Giordano. She loved to play cards, and was a particularly wicked Euchre player.
When she became sick she moved in with her daughter Kathy and son-in-law John. They took loving care of her, along with the wonderful people from Heartland Hospice Care.
She is survived by her three children, Jessica Ham (Nyle Hilton), Wisconsin Rapids; Katherine (John) Hoffman, Pittsville, and Robert Ham Jr., Madison; daughter-in-law Kris, Rhinelander; and two grandchildren, John Robert Hoffman, Mauston; and Rebecca (Nick) Schmit, Wild Rose. She is further survived by sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Fred, ex-husband Robert and son Jeffrey. In accordance with her wishes, a private family celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
