Helen M. Wuich

Helen M. Wuich, 98, died peacefully in her sleep on July 28, 2022, at Alexian Village nursing facility in Elk Grove Village, Ill. She was born on July 1, 1924, in Chicago to the late George and Helen (Furlan) Cutich. She married Louis Wuich on July 20, 1946, her childhood sweetheart and loving husband for 58 years until his death in 2004. Together they raised five children. Helen loved and cherished her family, her Catholic faith, and her Croatian heritage. Throughout her life, Helen celebrated and embraced her large Croatian family, as she treasured her parents, her brothers and sisters, her in-laws, and her many nieces and nephews. Her husband Louie, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life. She loved quilting blankets by hand while listening to her Croatian music. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her warm and welcoming smile, her goodness that welcomed and embraced all, and her unconditional love for all family. 
 Helen is survived by four of her children: Thomas (Pam) Wuich of Arlington Heights, Ill., Gloria Chandler of Port Orange, Fla., Barbara (Nate) Robinson of Livingston, Mont., and John (Debra) Wuich of Gurnee, Ill. She also is survived by her sisters Anne (the late Joe) Vuich of Chicago, and Milly (the late Harry) Belluomini of Arbor Vitae, a brother John Cutich of McIntosh, Fla., and a brother-in-law Frank (Terry) Wuich of Chicago. Helen has eight surviving grandchildren; Kristen, Karen, Carson, Tyler, Jean, Steven, Tommy, and Andy, as well as six great-grandchildren; Benjamin, Andrew, Katelyn, Steven, Ansley, Riley, and Kyle. Helen was preceded in death by her husband Louie and her much loved daughter and namesake Helen Marie (Robert) Lesniak, as well as by her parents and three brothers — George, Mike, and Joseph Cutich. 
Visitation was held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Woodruff on Saturday, Aug. 6, followed by a Mass of Christian burial next to her beloved husband Louie at St. Patrick Cemetery in Woodruff.
