Peter graduated from Neenah High School. Following graduation, he was drafted by the Marine Corp where he proudly served four years, including one tour in Vietnam. He followed in his father’s footsteps and was third generation valued employee of Bergstrom P. H. Glatfelter, where he worked over 30 years up until retirement. Peter married the love of his life, Shirley, on October 23, 1971. Together they shared almost 44 years of marriage. In that time, they built a home, raised a family, and joyfully took part in the lives of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pete spent his summers and falls in his home away from home, Boulder Junction, with his trusty companion, golden retriever Max. Pete was an avid fisherman his entire life, spending dawn to dusk on the many lakes up north with good friends that became family to him. Pete leaves a legacy of kindness, generosity, and joy. To know Pete is to know a true friend. He will be greatly missed.
Peter is survived by children: Anita Pemberton, Kimberlie (Joe) Clohessy, and Randy (Steph) Sorensen; companion: Max; grandchildren: Ashley (Andy), Mandi (Brad), Violet (Jason), Patience, Anthony, and Maddie; great-grandchildren: Ryan, Owen, Ashton, Julien, Noraleigh, Benjamin, Faelynn, Isabella, Lillian, and Lyric; sister: Janice (Bob) Williamsen, brother-in-law, Edwin Zimmer; and many other special family members and friends.
Peter is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley; great-grandson, Abel; and furry friends, Rex, and Oreo.
