Crystal and George met in Milwaukee, where they both worked in a hospital. Crystal was a medical secretary and George Sr. was a blood technician. They moved to Minocqua in the summer of 1971. Crystal and George purchased the Island Cafe from George’s parents on June 14 of 1971 and built the new location of the Island Cafe.
They soon started their lifelong marriage on August 28, 1971. They welcomed their first child, George Jr., on February 6, 1972. Their second child, Angela, was born on February 8, 1973, and Allison their last child on November 5, 1976.
Crystal was blessed to have one grandchild, Clara (Allison’s daughter), and loved every minute of being a grandparent (Yia Yia). Clara and her Yia Yia did crafts, art projects, and baked goodies daily. She taught Clara the same elements she did her own children, integrity, loyalty and kindness. Crystal and Clara went on small, day-long trips around Northern Wisconsin. Crystal gave Clara her undivided attention and love till the end.
The Legacy she left is the love she shared, compassion she showed, humbleness, gratitude, helpfulness and kindness.
Crystal was loved and will be missed by many.
A celebration of life will be held on August 14.
