He was a sheet metal worker and practiced his trade in many of the factories and paper mills in central Wisconsin. In his free time he could be found working on his house (that he never finished) and enjoying cheap beer. His life philosophy was “the best beer is a free beer.” His many nieces and nephews knew to never pull Uncle Jim’s finger, because another one of his life philosophies was “farts are fun.” He also enjoyed having cookouts and sharing stories around a campfire. After his retirement he liked to travel the country in his camper, especially enjoying the Lake Superior region. Many mornings he could be found with his back to Canada following his favorite Monty Python quote “I fart in your general direction.” He was an avid reader and his family is pretty sure he never threw out a magazine, evidenced by the shelves of periodicals that line the basement walls of his house.
He is survived by many family members and a few friends.
He was preceded in death by his ancestors, who according to him were all “pirates, horse thieves and train robbers.”
Following the misanthrope’s wishes there will be no funeral or visitation. There will be a camping cookout party this summer to share stories and beer. Guests will all leave with a stack of magazines. In lieu of flowers, have a shot and a beer in his honor.
