Gerald Walter Kehl

Gerald Walter Kehl, 79, of Sayner, died on Wednesday, September 22.
Jerry was born on May 8, 1942 and raised in Racine. He graduated from Racine Horlick High School in 1960. He attended UW- Madison and graduated with a bachelors degree from Milton College. He was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity.
Jerry worked as a mortgage banker in Milwaukee at Mortgage Associates, Washington Mutual and MGIC. He retired in 2004.
He loved to bowl, golf, fish and hunt. But most of all he loved to plan vacations and take trips with his family. He organized many tailgate trips to UW Madison Football games for friends and family. His love for all animals, especially cats and dogs, grew out of the wonderful summers he spent at his Aunt Kathryn and Uncle Bill Kehl’s farm in Oconto. Being an only child, Jerry lovingly cared for his parents as they aged.
After living in Muskego for 30 years, he moved into his dream home on Plum Lake in 2006. Most recently, Jerry was President of the Sayner Star Lake Lions only possible with the caring support of his fellow Lions. Thank you, Lions!
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Ellen Kehl; mother in law Helen Maas; sister in law and brother in law Judy Ann (nee Maas) and Reginald Dobogai.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jo Ann (nee Maas), of Sayner; son William Gerald Kehl and wife Trish (nee Covey) and young grandson Nolan of the Village of Waukesha; father in law Ralph Maas; sister in law and brother in law Cathy and Ron Maas; and nephew Ken Dobogai and son Caleb and many cousins and friends.
Thanks so much to Dr. Thomas Gabert and to all of the Memory Care staff at Milestone Assisted Living in Woodruff for all of their compassionate care of Jerry.
The family would also like to thank close friends: Tom and Betsy Hintz, Jim and Margaret Lindquist, Dave and Shirley Hilgers, Randy and Janet Keim, Joyce and Marv Kivela, and Carol Van Balen for their unending support for the past several years during Jerry’s illness.
