Patricia Mary Aguado

Patricia Mary Aguado, Age 83, long time resident of Mercer, passed away at the Marshfield Hospital on May 8, 2021, from a rare brain infection.
Pat, as she was best known as, was born April 20, 1938, in Chicago to Elmer and Eleanor Cooney. She married Alexander Aguado October 9, 1959, who preceded her in death in 1985. They were married for 26 years.
Pat attended Providence High School in Chicago and excelled in sports like swimming and volleyball. Growing up she loved spending her summers on Teal Lake near Hayward with her aunt, uncle, and cousins. There she was able to enjoy the outdoors by gardening, swimming and especially fishing.
Pat was a homemaker and involved in the Austin Neighborhood Association in Chicago, where she chaperoned countless St. Angela School field trips and served as a Girl Scout leader for many years. As the children got older, Pat and a friend opened a ceramic shop in their Chicago neighborhood.
In 1977 Pat and Al moved their family to Mercer. Pat served her community as a member of the Mercer Lioness Club for 40 years. She was especially proud to have served as president numerous times, and to have organized Wednesday night summer bingo.
In the early 90’s Pat attended Nicolet College to obtain her realtors license and worked for seven years with Jim Tait Real Estate. She was an avid reader and enjoyed classic movies and musicals, oldies music, bingo, and watching the Packers, Badgers and Notre Dame football.
Pat was a kind and generous woman who greeted all who came through her door with conversation and a smile. She was known by many of her children’s and grandchildren’s friends as either “ma” or “grandma” and always seemed to have a large pot of spaghetti ready to serve any of the kids that stopped in to visit and help around the house.
Pat also shared her enjoyment of cooking by compiling several recipes and food preparation tips into a book she titled “Wild Game Cookbook for amateurs”.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband Alexander Aguado, her sister Jacqueline Cooney, her brother Timothy Cooney, her parents Elmer and Eleanor Cooney, and daughter in law Amy Aguado.
Pat is survived by her children Deborah Aguado of Stevens Point; Aleck (Amy) Aguado of Luck; and Susan Aguado of Mercer. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Brad (Michelle) Coppock, Joshua (Robin) Coppock, Nelson Gergen, Tony (Brittany) Aguado, Jake Aguado, Nick Aguado, Riana Aguado, Elijah Sisney, Carly Sisney, and Shane Aguado and six great grandchildren, Jamal, Aryonna, Izabella, Oliver, Kassity, and Kallie.
Family and friends are invited to attend Pats celebration of life on Saturday Sept. 25 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mercer Community Building (next to the library).
