Barbara Ann Lehmkuhl
Barb was born May 3, 1937 in Milwaukee, the daughter of George and Madeline Pabelick. She attended Holy Angels High School, where she was in a group called the mighty nine. A blind date with Paul in 1955 who had just returned from his service in the Army overseas, led to their marriage in 1957. Together they had five children, after the youngest started school, so did Barb at MATC to become an RN. Her career started at Milwaukee Veteran’s Hospital.
In 1979 their dream of living in a log home on a lake became a reality in Manitowish Waters. Barb then became an RN at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander, where she cared for many with compassion until her retirement. While she worked, Paul and the kids built a log home.
Barb had a passion for walking, traveling, family and reading. Barb was a volunteer at the Manitowish Waters Library and was a member of the book club.
Barb is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Paul Lehmkuhl, three of her children; David (Cheryl), Paula and Stephen (Susan) and by 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, a loving uncle Barney Brumm, cousins, many nieces and nephews and long time friends Ursula and Joe McCarthy, as well as five of the “Mighty 9”. Barb was preceded in death by her parents, two sons Christopher and R. Scott and also a brother Tom (Judy).
