Donna Bassett
After Gerry’s military service, they established their family in Arbor Vitae, where they raised four children. While raising their children, Donna and Gerry were known for being a social couple; getting to know their neighbors, people at their church, and their community. After their children grew up and moved away, they retired to Viola in 1996. Upon retirement, Donna started volunteering at many places: the food pantry, Vernon Memorial Hospital, at Good Shepherd Church, the blood drives, and on the election board for the Town of Liberty. After Gerry’s death in 2018, Donna has resided in Sparta to be closer to family.
Donna is survived by her four children: Debra Bassett, Mark (Gloria) Bassett, Tina (Eric) Blount, and Becky (Ron) Anderson; ten grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; a sister, Alyce Bailey; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 63 years, Gerry; brothers: Robert, Clarence, Lewie, Gene, and John Behn, Roger and Fred Raichle; sisters, Florence Brooker, and Helen Maines; and two granddaughters: Rebekah LeeAnn and Amanda Lee.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 2 p.m., at Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua with Pastor Mark Kvale officiating. A visitation will be held from noon until time of service, with a light lunch available. Donna will be laid to rest at the Viola Cemetery.
In lieu of plants or flowers, memorials may be given to Sugar Creek Bible Camp in Donna’s memory.
