Richard Arthur Maris
He grew up in Des Moines, Iowa. He attended the University of Oklahoma on a swimming scholarship then on to the University of Iowa where he got his degree and met his wife, Jo. They were married Sept. 3, 1966.
He was the Peoria, Ill., group manager at Great West Life Insurance company for eight years before he started his own business, R.A. Maris/Associates.
He was preceded in death by his two brothers Alan and Gerrit. He is survived by his wife Jo and two sons Matthew (Janelle) and Jeffrey (Lori) and seven wonderful grandchildren, Carson, Connor, Collin, Natalie, Carter, Nicholas and Colbi. He was so proud of all of them. He will be truly missed.
A celebration of his life will be held this summer.
In memory of Rich please make memorials to St. Jude Children’s hospital or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
