Kenneth Wayne Mancheski, 85, passed away June 25 at Rennes in Rhinelander.  He was a devoted husband, loving father, playful “Bopa” and tireless friend.
Ken was born October 12, 1935 in Green Bay to Martin and Rose Mancheski.  He graduated from East High School in Green Bay in 1955 and served in the United States Air Force for four years, including a year tour in Korea, before moving back to Green Bay.  He married Barbara Medley on January 28th, 1961 and started a family.
He worked at Green Bay Packaging his entire 34 year career in sales and leadership, retiring as the VP, General Manager in 1993.  He then retired and spent his years happy on the shores of Long Boat Key, Florida and on the lake in Minocqua, Wisconsin and in his workshop.
In retirement, Ken was the instigator of fun and the driving force behind golf outings, pontoon parties, snowmobile adventures and frequent sunset boat rides.
Ken was a devoted father and eventually, grandfather.  One of his biggest joys of his life was having family at the lake and playing Santa to his granddaughters.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, son David (Susan) Mancheski of Salt Lake City, Utah and granddaughters Claire and Eleanor.  Ken was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Chris and sister Marlene (Mickey) Tobin.
Ken will always be remembered for his funny, often recycled, stories, his love of a good time, and a steak and an old fashioned on Saturdays.
Memorial Gathering for Ken will be on Thursday, July 1 at Nimsgern Funeral Home Chapel in Woodruff from 4 to 6 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 6 p.m.  Interment will take place at Fort Howard Cemetery in Green Bay at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Ken’s name be made to the Minocqua – Kawaguesaga Lakes Protection Association (MKLPA) PO Box 494 Minocqua, WI 54548 or Lakeland Pantry PO Box 470 Woodruff, WI 54368.
