Rosalie A. (Schassberger) Pribis, 91, peacefully passed away on June 6, at Seasons of Life Hospice House. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on January 2, 1930. She met and married Steve June 7, 1947 in Toledo. Rosie and Steve settled in Toledo and vacationed every summer in Gaylord, Mich. with the Purney family. In 1959 they moved to Chicago then on to Wisconsin in 1967 where they purchased and operated the Rustic Haven Resort on South Twin Placid Lake in Lac du Flambeau. She and Steve moved to Upper Kaubashine Lake, Hazelhurst in 1971 where they enjoyed family, friends, and life at the lake. Rosie and Steve moved to Texas in 1980 where they managed an apartment complex for the elderly, before moving back to Wisconsin in 1995.
She loved playing cards with her good friends Ray & Lila Young, putting together easily a thousand puzzles in her lifetime. Her greatest achievement and she would agree was the hand stitching of many beautiful quilts, which are now treasured family heirlooms. She loved Gummy Bears, Bugles and a daily soda. Nobody would say she didn't love TV. Her favorites were soap operas, Gunsmoke, Bonanza, All in the Family and most recently Animal Planet, Pit Bulls and Paroles and her most favorite of all was Oak Island. She loved the outdoors. She will always be remembered by family and friends for her beautiful smile, kind words and excitement to see you.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Stephen G. Pribis; daughter, Dianne M. Pribis – Howard, grandson, James C. Purdy, three brothers John, Bob and Carl and a sister Rita. Her remaining family include Steve P. Pribis; Janice P. (Stephen) Knable and Chris R. (Jim) Purdy, four grandchildren, Steven Lee (Lacy) Howard, Ashton (Leah) Howard, Christian Howard and Adam (Ali Perse) Purdy; three step grandchildren, Chanley (Christopher) Webber, Carli Knable and Carie Knable; and seven great grandchildren.
Our deepest gratitude goes to the Seasons of Life Hospice staff, Pam, Chris, Goldie, Elizabeth, Ina, and Donna to mention a few. The tender and loving care they so personally provided Rosie this past year is nothing short of beautiful. They truly are angels on this Earth.
A Funeral Service will be held at Bolger Funeral Home in Minocqua on Tuesday, June 15, at 1 p.m. With a visitation one hour before.
