Martin was born July 18, 1936, in Kenosha, the son of Martin and Frances (Matye) Lang. He served in the Army as a paratrooper. He then married Shirley Stindle on July 14, 1962. They eloped and honeymooned for a month traveling the western states.
They moved to California for several years where Martin worked as a door-to-door Electrolux salesman. After returning to Kenosha, he was a machinist at American Motors and Evinrude Outboard Motors. He spent a couple of years as a realtor before retiring to the Northwoods in Wisconsin in 1991.
The last 22 years they wintered in warmer weather, 17 years in Lake Havasu, Ariz. The last 5 years in Summerfield, Fla.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Woodruff. Over the years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, bowling, golfing, swimming, bike riding and playing cards. He loved doing all these things with his family. He was an avid sports fan and loved watching the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Bucks, Wisconsin Badgers and Chicago Cubs. He was the story teller in the family, always sharing his fishing and hunting stories.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley, son Martin Jr. (Renee) of Kenosha, daughter, Linda (Bill) McFarlane of Bryant, Wis., & Summerfield, Fla., and son David of Twin Lakes, and by grandchildren: Rachel and Jake, Ryan (Megan), Kyle (Hillary), Jared and great grandchildren, Stella & Flint. Brothers Mike (Ruth) Lang, Bob Lang, sister Fran (Phil) McLemore, in-laws Jane and Dick Dorff.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Susan Predney.
The family is being assisted by Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Ocala, FL. The funeral will be postponed until late spring and will be held in Woodruff.
