She was born on December 29, 1933 in Black Creek, Wis. to Amanda Schabow and Herman Tank. Jean spent her childhood on the family farm in Black Creek, enjoying special relationships with her Aunt Alice and her grandfather Henry.
Jean married Robert “Bob” Bishop on November 25, 1950. Jean enjoyed being a homemaker, a girl scout leader, and being a member of the neighborhood coffee klatch. She also enjoyed family camping trips and trips to the family cottage in Fence, Wis. Bob and Jean purchased Bishop’s Hook and Hoof resort after Bob’s retirement. They spent many happy years in Minocqua and were members of The United Methodist Church of the Pines, Odd Couples, the Forest Riders Snowmobile Club and Jean was a member of the Lake Shishebogama Ladies of the Lake.
Bob and Jean were married for 67 years until Bob’s passing in 2017.
Jean is survived by her five children. Beverly (Mike) Marsh, James (Holly) Bishop, Barb (Brad) Alt, Bonnie (Steve) Malchow and Brenda (Chip) Leedom. Jean is also survived by 15 grandchildren. Michael, Robert, Daniel, Thomas, Hope, David, Amy, Becky, Christopher, Ryan, Craig, Kevin, Claire, Hannah and Carson along with 22 great-grandchildren.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Bob.
Funeral Services will be held on August 21 at Kessler Funeral Home in Neenah. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m., followed by a funeral service. Private burial will occur at a later date at Greenlawn Cemetery in Neenah.
