Robert N. Lotzer, 89, of Marshfield, passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2021, at Wells Nature View. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church (1414 W 5th St) in Marshfield. The Very Rev. Douglas C. Robertson will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Saturday. Private burial will be held in Gate Of Heaven Cemetery.
Robert was born on Oct. 22, 1931, in Fond du Lac, to the late Jacob and Margaret (Feldner) Lotzer; attended St. Mary’s Grade School and was a 1950 graduate of Fond du Lac High School. He went on to earn a BBA degree from the University of Michigan in 1954. On Sep. 22, 1954, his marriage to Charlene A. Francis took place in Fond du Lac.
Prior to entering the U.S. Navy, Robert spent 2 1/2 years in the construction and real estate business in Fond du Lac. He then served in the Navy from April of 1956 to July of 1959 as an officer on a carrier. Following his service in California, Robert moved back to Fond du Lac and returned to the construction and real estate business until 1963.
In October of 1963, Robert joined Marshfield Savings & Loan as a real estate lending officer, becoming president/CEO in 1964; and in 1996 adding the title of chairman of the board of directors. He retired from Marshfield Savings Bank on Dec. 31, 1996.
Robert had been a member of the Marshfield Rotary Club, Boy Scouts — Samoset Council, past president of MACCI, past chairman of Wisconsin Savings League, past member of the board of directors of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago, past exalted ruler of the Marshfield Elks Club #665, director emeritus of Marshfield Savings Bank, past vice president of the board of directors of St. Joseph’s Hospital, and member of our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.
Survivors include his son, Peter (Catherine) Lotzer of Marshfield; daughter, Hope (Mike Fehling) Lotzer of Appleton; daughter, Ann (Jay) Schlinsog of Nashville; grandchildren, Nicholas (Brittany) Lotzer and Christopher Lotzer of Marshfield, Hayley (Thomas) Magnant, Jacob and Jordan Schlinsog all of Nashville; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Emmett and Finnley Lotzer.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene; a son, James; brothers, William, Joseph, and Donald Lotzer; sisters Helen Hoffman, Alice Coon, Genevieve Wendt and Betty Waehler.
Memorials may be given to Our Lady Of Peace Catholic Church or Marshfield Medical Research Foundation.
