Virginia Davis
Born in Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Forest and Inez Davis, Royal Center, Ind.
Ginger graduated from Pioneer High School in Royal Center, Ind.; Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa, with a bachelor of science degree; and Indiana University with a master’s degree in business administration.
She started her career in human resources management at Miller Brewing Company in Milwaukee, then Irwindale, Calif. She continued her HR career, eventually taking positions with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and later Alcoa.
She was involved in fund raising for the Multiple Sclerosis Society for many years and more recently with ALS. Ginger loved to socialize, was an avid gardener, and a member of the Lakeland Gardener’s Club, who maintained the gardens at the Season of Live hospice in Woodruff.
Ginger is survived by her son, Davis “Jamie” Sleboda, Kenosha; sister Nina Davis, Kokomo, Ind.; brother Mike (Carolyn) Davis, Royal Center, Ind.; brother Marty Davis and companion Karen Hill, Kokomo, Ind.; niece Katie Callaway and companion Doug Hirschberg, Royal Center, Ind.; great-nephew Owen Callaway, and great-niece McKenzie Hirschberg.
Ginger was preceded in death by her husband Tom Heilig in 2017.
A gathering for Ginger will be held at Nimsgern Funeral and Cremation Services in Woodruff, on Saturday, Oct. 10 starting at 1 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. CT. The service will also be broadcast live on Nimsgern’s Facebook page and a recording available later for viewing.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
