Then owned and operated Mill Valley Garage in New Berlin. His dream was to live in northern Wisconsin so he began a new endeavor Arbor Vitae & Machine, specializing in “early Ford V8’s and other older engines.” Dan spent many hours in his shop on Neff Road, enjoying tinkering with antique cars with his buddies. Dan attended many car shows and won many trophies.
Dan was an avid hunter, he went to Wyoming for 20 years to hunt antelope in October with his two buddies in their motorhome. He also enjoyed Wisconsin deer hunting with his family in Beaver. Dan loved the outdoors and always had a large vegetable garden that became small through the years. Dan enjoyed reading a good book, especially military World War II. He spent many hours in his last years working on jig saw puzzles, watching baseball and football games, and assembling model airplanes.
Dan was an active member of the St. Germain Primetimers, enjoying their car shows, Snow Flake dances, dart ball and their limousine bus trips to many faraway places.
Dan and his wife were regular polka dancers for many years. They met a polka dance in 1975 in Milwaukee and made polka dancing a priority.
