Betty Jane Anna Hansen

Betty Jane Anna (Schurr) Hansen passed away peacefully at Seasons of Life Hospice House in Woodruff on Nov. 3, 2020 at the age of 94 years.
Born in Milwaukee on Oct. 30, 1926, Betty graduated from Rufus King High School. She married Harold R. Hansen on Sept. 17, 1949. They bought their first home in 1953 and raised three children there.
Betty worked for many years at Schusters (Gimbels Department Store). She then worked at Schmidt Orlow-Stumpfs and at Steinhafel’s Furniture.
Upon retirement in 1979, Betty and Harold moved to Little Spider Lake in Arbor Vitae, where they enjoyed many happy years with friends and family. After Harold’s death, Betty moved to Woodruff.
Betty was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Minocqua where she taught Sunday School until age 92.  Betty ushered and volunteered in the office as well. Additionally, Betty volunteered at the Lakeland Pantry.
Being a life-long Packer fan, Betty wore her Donald Driver jersey proudly.
Betty is survived by her daughters Robin Ann Mainhardt (Bob) in Rhinelander, and Lisa Ann Mader (Bill) in Malone, Wisc. The “lights of her life” were her grandchildren-Ryan Mainhardt (Jessica), Rob Mainhardt (Emily), Rhea Sharbono (Matthew), Marcus Majewski, and Kyle Mader (Kaitlyn).  Her great-grandchildren were the “sparks” that kept her young-Grady, Madeline, Amira, Graham and Miles.
Betty is further survived by special nephew Giles Schultz Jr., his children and grandchildren. There were many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends who made up Betty’s extended family. She will be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Harold, son Frederick Hansen and her parents, Frederick and Elfrieda Schurr along with grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and many close friends.
Due to COVID-19, a celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date in 2021 when family may be together.
Special thanks to Lorina and all of the wonder caregivers in the hospice program at Ascension. These compassionate people provided so many hours of careful and loving care to Betty during this past year.
Memorials or donations may be made to Ascension Lutheran Church-Sunday School Program in Minocqua or Seasons of Life Hospice House in Woodruff.
Interment will be at the columbarium at Ascension Lutheran Church. Bolger Cremation & Funeral Services is assisting the family, 715-356-3200 or visit www.bolgerfuneral.com to share online condolences.
“Tell me, what does it look like in heaven? Is it peaceful? Is it free like they say? Does the sun shine bright forever? Have your fears and your pain gone away?
“I hope you’re dancing in the sky. And I hope you’re singing in the angels’ choir; And I hope the angels know what they have. I’ll bet it’s so nice up in heaven since you’ve arrived.” — Words from Dani and Lizzy, “Dancing in the Sky”
