William “Will” Arthur Young, age 81 of Hazelhurst, died on Sunday, April 4. Will was born on Dec. 7, 1939. He is the son of Clinton and Anna Rose (nee Kelnhofer) Young. Will graduated from Minocqua High School and then proudly served in the United States Marine Corps until he was honorably discharged. He then returned home to help support his family and siblings.
Will found the love of his life, Patricia (Pat) Nystrom when he moved to Illinois. Will and Pat were married on Aug. 10, 1962 and remained married for the next 58 years until his passing. Will and Pat had three children Robert, Catherine and Douglas.
Will was known for being a strong and tireless worker. He worked in the commercial construction business for 20 years in Illinois. During that time, he was foreman for some large and prominent projects around the greater Chicagoland area. After retiring from the construction industry, Will moved his family back to Minocqua.
Will and Pat ran successful businesses (Chalet Restaurant, Y’s Acres Resort on Squirrel Lake) together as a team. After selling those businesses, Will continued to remain active as a small businesses’ owner buying and selling several businesses in the Minocqua area.
When he wasn’t working, Will loved to be outside. He had made fishing and hunting trips to Canada as a young man and continued to hunt in Hazelhurst on his land every year he could. He loved to be out and about on his property and could often be found maintaining the “big field.” Will would love taking the grandkids out there whenever they would visit.
Will is survived by his loving wife Pat and their two sons Robert (Renee) and Doug (Dee Ann). He is also survived by his sister Pat and his grandchildren Rhonda, Melanie, Derek, Ashley, Kyle and William (named after his grandfather) and great grandchildren Juliette, Liam, Connor, Jack, Marshall, Marley, Shyann and Dixie and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Raymond and Bertram and his sister Doris and daughter Catherine and by great-granddaughter Emma.
Upon his wishes cremation took place and private family services will be held.
Online condolences may be shared at www.nimsgernfuneral.com. Nimsgern Funeral & Cremation Services is serving the family.
