W. Arthur Ohnmacht
Art was the younger of two children, born on Nov. 9, 1935 to Arthur and Margaret Ohnmacht in Milwaukee. He graduated from Pius High School, Milwaukee in 1955. After high school graduation, Art joined the United States Marine Corp and was in reserves, serving our country for many years. He began a life-long sales career at a young age, spending most of his years as a traveling shoe sales executive.
Art met his wife Ruth (Wrobbel) in 1963 and they had their first date at a Green Bay Packer game at County Stadium. He married his best friend and the love of his life on July 18, 1964 and the couple built a home in Menomonee Falls. They went on to have and raise one son, Timothy. They loved to travel to northern Wisconsin and built a second home on Lake Tomahawk, Art’s favorite place in the world, in 1976. They spent their summers on the lake for over 40 years where they enjoyed entertaining friends and family.
After Art retired, he spent several years working at Mark Travel part-time to keep busy. Art was an active member of St. Anthony’s parish in Menomonee Falls.
Art is survived by his wife Ruth, his son Timothy (Ann) Ohnmacht, Hartland, four granddaughters, Emme, Anna, Eilie and Ava Ohnmacht, and two grandsons, Jacob and Nicholas Harrington. He is further survived by his brother and sisters-in-law, Jim (Joanie) Wrobbel, Dolly (the late Don) Wrobbel, and Phyllis (the late Gerald) Wrobbel. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and brother-in-law and Arleyne (Russell) Parsons, and brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Joan Pitzo.
A private visitation and funeral for Art will be held at a later date. Inurnment will take place at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Menomonee Falls.
We would like to send a very special thank you to the compassionate nursing staff at Community Memorial for taking care of Art and Ruth.
