Jana Ruzena Jirak
She initially had a bait and tackle sports shop business in St. Germain and then later starting Jana’s Tax Service in Woodruff until retirement.
Jana followed her passion for nature photography throughout her life being involved in multiple camera clubs and establishing the Lakeland Area Camera Club. She received multiple awards for her photography and many of her photos were featured in nature magazines including national wildlife, children’s books, Wisconsin trails, and old barns. She led multiple photography expeditions including to Isle Royale National Park, Northern Wisconsin, and Alaska.
Jana translated and edited multiple of her grandfather’s books covering his expeditions and explorations of Africa at the turn of the 19th century. The subsequent English translations were published.
Jana is proceeded in death by her parents Ruzena and Victor Nemec and her husband, the love of her life, George J. Jirak. She leaves behind her children George V. Jirak (Suzette) and Jane Jirak Gunderson, her grandchildren Michael Gunderson, Jessica Jirak Knight, Brian Gunderson, Jennifer Jirak (Ryan Harrison), James G. Jirak (Dayan Wei), special granddaughter Seazon Hanson, great-grandchildren George Gunderson, Ian Gunderson, Leilynd Gunderson, Eddie Gunderson, Jaydan Hanson, and niece Suzanne Eschenbach.

A celebration of Jana’s life took place with family and friends on Dec. 6, 2020 at her home.
