Lakeland Figure Skating Club prepares for national competition
By Nick Sabato-
Starting Aug. 2, the club is scheduled to travel to Grand Rapids, Mich., to perform in the State Games of America with skaters from across the country.
The skaters qualified for the bi-annual event by qualifying at the Badger State Games in 2016 and 2017.
"It's kind of an Olympic-style competition where all sports are represented. We're going to represent figure skating in the state of Wisconsin," Lakeland Figure Skating Club coach Heidi Strosahl said. "It's a five-day event. Anything from ice dancing to the free skate. It's just a great opportunity for the kids to participate in these different events and showcase their skills."
Twelve members of the Lakeland Figure Skating Club, including Brooke Pagels, Dellana Graeber, Kiana Webie, Grace Redenbaugh, Nathanael Graeber, Christian Lashua, Aubrey Graeber, Magdalene Lashua, Ellie Witulski, Monica Delgertsogt, Tiana Gerstenberger and Grace Witulski, are slated to compete at the State Games of America. Strosahl will also compete in the adult division.
