Golden Karat Jewelers gets makeover, new ownership
By Abbey McEnroe-
Although the ownership has changed, the previous staff has remained. Manager Jo Schaeffel-Lynch worked for the previous owners for 32 years.
"Nancy decided to keep the whole staff on, which was wonderful," Schaeffel-Lynch expressed.
"That was important to Tom and Phil (the previous owners), to make sure the girls kept their jobs and I couldn't have done it without them," Ritchie added.
Every member of the current staff has been at Golden Karat Jewelers for at least 10 years, all becoming jewelry professionals along the way. The staff's expertise ultimately helped Ritchie choose some of the lines of jewelry featured in the store. With a wide variety of jewelry and giftware, there is something for everyone at Golden Karat Jewelers.
"One of our biggest things was to make sure we have a little bit of everything," Ritchie explained. "So we have items that start from $12 on up to fine jewelry."
The store features several lines of designer jewelry in silver and gold, bridal jewelry, a men's line, three brands of watches, giftware, handbags, children's jewelry, Baptismal gowns and more.
"That is one thing I hear from every customer who comes in, they just say 'Oh you have such a great selection and there's so many different things,' and that's what we were aiming for," Schaeffel-Lynch expressed.
In addition to a wide variety of products, Golden Karat Jewelers changes watch batteries, offers professional jewelry repair with two on-premise goldsmiths, custom jewelry design and buying of gold and silver.
Included in the new store design is a private showroom, where jewelry can be viewed in a quiet setting off the showroom floor.
"If someone comes in and would like some privacy to shop for an engagement ring or other special gift, no one will know they are there," Ritchie explained.
A new product Ritchie and Schaeffel-Lynch are excited to announce is a custom T-Bird Bridge charm. The charm will be in the store in early August, according to Schaeffel-Lynch, and can be special ordered in other sizes and shapes.
"We're going to be selling the charms and all proceeds will go back to support the T-Bird Bridge that they want to put up at the high school, and then for their scholarships," Ritchie expressed.
Golden Karat Jewelers will also be running a special promotion on a different jewelry line every Saturday. The line chosen will be featured at a special discounted price.
