Robert J. Benson, 83, of Manitowish Waters, and Tavares, Fla. passed away suddenly, May 31, at Osprey Memory Care in Tavares, Fla.
Bob was born in Milwaukee, on November 2, 1937 to Harley and Eleanore ( Czecholinski) Benson. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harley and Charles and daughter Cindy.
Bob spent his younger years as a Golden Glove boxer before joining his father in the masonry business. After learning all he could from his father he ventured out on his own, becoming a true mason artist. Through the years he and his wife, Jan, designed and built several homes. Making such a business that having a “Bob Benson fireplace” was a selling point in a home.
Bob enjoyed spending time outside. Boating on the Manitowish Waters Chain, in Tavares, Fla., as well as Lake Superior. He especially enjoyed his Fathers Day Lake Superior trips with his children. He loved snowmobiling in Northern Wisconsin and hunting on his property in Agenda with son, Harley and grandson, Adam. He could be heard yelling “FOUR” while golfing with son, Rob. Bob also gifted his love of horses to his daughter, Dawn. He loved all of his family dearly, always to be found beaming proudly of them all.
Bob is survived by his wife, Janice, children Dawn Lentz (Thomas), Harley (Gina), and Rob (Sheri).  Step-children Rick Hibbard (Roxane), Rob Hibbard (Maria), Randy Hibbard (Kimmy), Rodney Hibbard (Bonnie), and Ryan Hibbard (Jennifer).
Siblings, brother Jim (ElJean), Carol Schaf (Roger), and sister in law Nancy Benson.
Grandchildren Heather Dietz (John Leigh), Alicia Schinzel (Dave), and Adam Benson (Jess). He also loved 11 step grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and close friends, including lifelong buds, Mike Schmidt and Bob Zaretzke.
Per Bob’s request, there will be no service.  May he always be remembered for his quick wit and love for singing and telling jokes. He will be greatly missed by all.  To quote Bob Benson, “I’m glad you got to see me today.”
