On Friday, April 23, 2021, Jean Ann (Geis) Sherer passed away at her home in Titusville, Fla., at the age of 91. Jean was born on Sept. 10, 1929 to John and Anna (Hackett) Geis of Wayne Township, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, William C. Sherer and grandson, T.J. Sherer. She is survived by her six children, John (Deb), Bill (Dawn), Tim (Julie), Joe (Judy), Tom (Marlene), and MaryAnn (Chris Collar) as well as numerous grandchildren: Ben Collar, Briana (Brooks King), Bridget Sherer, Brenna (Dave Costello), Marissa (Joe Lesner), Katie (Brian Collin), Lisa (Mike Anderson), and James Goodell, as well as many great-grandchildren: Lauren, Preston, Lillian; Nick; David, Ashley; William, Ben; Michael, Sam, Ella; and Graysen. Jean graduated from Wayne High School and subsequently attended the College of Mt. St. Joseph in Cincinnati, Ohio. She worked as a secretary at NCR in Dayton, Ohio before raising her six children.  In the late 1950s, Jean and her husband, Bill, bought an aging resort in northern Wisconsin on Lake Buckatabon and converted it into a youth camp which became known as Camp Buckatabon. They traveled to the camp and ran it every summer until 1972, when the property was sold and the family moved to their home on Fishtrap Lake in Boulder Junction. Jean and her family lived in Boulder Junction and were long-time members of St. Ann’s Catholic Church there. In 1990, Jean and Bill began spending the winters near Mims, Fla., and they moved into a winter condo in Titusville in 2000. In 2005, Jean and Bill moved their summer residence to Presque Isle, where they lived on Armour Lake until Bill’s death in 2008. At that time, Jean moved to Titusville permanently where she lived with her son, Joe. Jean was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Titusville. She enjoyed playing Bridge and Euchre and spending time with her family and her dog, Rex. A private funeral mass will be held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Boulder Junction, Wisconsin on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 11 a.m. with a burial service at the Cemetery of the Pines immediately following. Guests are welcome to come to the burial service with masks and social distancing.
