The Return of the Million Penny Parade

According to the Howard Young Foundation, “The services of the Howard Young Medical Center began with the dream of a country doctor, Dr. Kate Pelham Newcomb.” But most of the staff and volunteers at the Dr. Kate Museum would disagree. To them the hospital came about because of the creativity and persistence of a high school math teacher, the passion and hard work of AVW students, and the support of the caring and visionary citizens of the Lakeland area, not to mention contributions from people all over the world.
