‘Crossing the Pressure Line’ inspired by the Northwoods

New children’s author visits Minocqua

A Milwaukee native, Laura Anne Bird wanted nothing more than to publish a novel of her own after studying English at the University of Notre Dame.  Now living in Madison with her husband and three teenage children for the past 20 years, Bird’s dream had come true a year ago when she published her first book, “Crossing the Pressure Line,” which takes place in a fictional Northwoods Wisconsin town called Alwyn.
