Xerces offers resources for gardeners looking to create pollinator habitat

Matthew Shepard, co-author of the book “Attracting Native Pollinators,” took some time to talk about the next steps for gardeners who have decided to create a pollinator garden. The Xerces Society is a non-profit conservation organization whose mission is to “protect that natural world through conservation on invertebrates and their habitats.” The organization was named after the first butterfly known to go extinct in North American specifically because of human activity, the Xerces blue. This butterfly was last seen in the air in 1943.
