The Mary Terese Hartzheim Foundation will host the first 'Mary Mile Weekend' this Friday and Saturday in Minocqua.
The event will honor the life of Mary Hartzheim, who passed away in 2005. Proceeds from the event will benefit MHLT Elementary School and Lakeland Union High School.
The weekend will begin with a golf tournament at Timber Ridge Golf Course on Friday morning with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The golf outing will be followed by a picnic style dinner at Torpy Park around 6 p.m.
On Saturday at 9 a.m., a fun run/walk event will begin just south of town on Hwy. 51 and will end at Torpy Park. There will also be a children's 100-meter run.
Participation forms for the run may be picked up at the Minocqua-Arbor Vitae-Woodruff-Chamber of Commerce. Registration is also available the day of the event.
The donations for tonight's dinner will be $15, which will be collected at the event. For more information, visit www.mthfoundation.org.
The Minocqua Trail Running Shoe
Whether it was cross country or track, Hartzheim loved to run. After she passed, Reebok honored her memory by releasing the Premier Minocqua Trail running shoe.
The shoe comes in both men's and women's styles and retails for $89.99. According to the product's description on www.reebok.com the Minocqua Trail Shoe is "crafted using a synthetic and mesh upper for comfort, fit and durability, the Reebok Premier Minocqua men's trail running shoe utilizes DMX Foam cushioning and Eclipse EVA midsole for increased stability and cushioning. The PlayDry lining delivers excellent moisture management to keep your feet cool and dry, while the reflective 3M Scotchlite material lets you run safely in low-light conditions."
