William “Bill” J. Riley, age 84 of Presque Isle, passed away on Thursday, May 2 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau. Bill was born on Dec. 16, 1934 in Portage, the son of Frances P. Riley and Grace Harvey Riley of Portage.

Bill graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and he served for five years in the U. S. Navy. Bill worked for many years at Cuna Mutual Group in Madison, and he retired as CFO and moved from Madison to Presque Isle. Bill’s passion was cooking. Over the years his family and friends enjoyed his culinary skills. 

Bill is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sandra (Kneebone) Riley, son Tim Riley, son Jim Riley, daughter Terri Brauher, sister Francis Riley (William) Garrity, grandchildren Brianna Brauher (Neil) Pace, Elizabeth Brauher (Leigh) Cotterell and Brandon Brauher; great-grandchildren Riley Pace, Desmond Cotterell, Winston Cotterell and Alexis Cotterell. 

Bill was preceded in death by his parents Francis P. and Grace Harvey Riley, aunt Catharyn Riley, son Tom Riley, and sisters Kate Riley, and Judy (Dr. John) Kenny.

Per Bill’s wishes, a private, family ceremony will be held at St Rita Catholic Church in Presque Isle, at a later date.
