Herman Schutt, age 100, of Hudsonville, formerly of Sayner, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Schutt; sisters, Jenny and Abe Hoving, Lee and Jake Oppewal, Gertrude and John Cook. He is survived by his children, Muriel and Philip Bouman, Lenore and Michael Klunder, Nicholas and Deborah Schutt; grandchildren, Matthew and Shawn Bouman, Sarah and Kevin Edwards, Brent and Kara Bouman, Katherine Klunder, Clayton and Kara Klunder, Connor Klunder, Rebecca Schutt; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Celia DeBoer.

Herman and Louise were owners of the Ace-Hi Bottled Gas Company Inc. for many years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Funeral services for Herman were held on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 11 a.m. at VanderLaan Funeral Home with Rev. Nate Meldrim of Messiah CRC officiating. Interment Fairmount Willow Hills Cemetery in Chicago. Relatives and friends met with the family at VanderLaan Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Messiah Christian Reformed Church.
