Andrew “Andy O” Organiscak, 96, passed away peacefully at his home, Saturday Sept. 8, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Sept. 13, 1921, in Chicago, son of the late Andrew and Anna (Hilla) Organiscak. On June 27, 1942, he married the love of his life, Lottie Handzel. They enjoyed 62 years together before her passing in 2005.

Andy was a proud member of the sheet metal workers union. Upon moving to the Northwoods in 1964, he and Lottie owned and operated Deepwoods Lodge on the Willow Flowage.

He was a member of the Seabees, VFW, Knights of Columbus, and a charter member of the Hazelhurst Lions Club. Andy loved sports, especially hunting, fishing, and watching the Cubs. He and Lottie enjoyed traveling and wintering in Florida with friends. In the summer “Andy O” was the Popcorn Man at Tommy O’s Playhouse.

Andy was a kind and gentle man, always thoughtful of others and willing to help anyone he could. He’ll be remembered for his sense of humor and love for fun. He always had a smile on his face and brought cheer to everyone he met.

Andy was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lottie, daughter Sandra, three brothers, and three sisters.

He is survived by children, Robert (Judy) Organiscak, Trivoli, Ill.; Lynda (David) Leanna, Denmark, Wisc.; Sharon (Jerome) Kaziak, Wausau; Theresa (James) Strasburg, Hazelhurst; and Thomas Organiscak, Minocqua and Cape Coral, Fla.; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, 2018, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Lac du Flambeau, with visitation at 10 a.m. until the time of service.
