MECCA Trails and WinMan Trails set out to create a pursuit style ski race celebrating both disciplines of skiing, silent sports and the Mercer/Manitowish Waters area.

The inaugural Turtle River Pursuit is the weekend of Saturday, Feb. 9 and Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019. The first leg of the Pursuit is an 11K classic ski race at MECCA Trails of Mercer on Saturday. The second portion of the pursuit is an 11K skate ski race at WinMan Trails of Manitowish Waters on Sunday. This race is open to individuals and teams.

Skier packet pick up and welcome reception will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8.

Day-of registration and packet pick up on Saturday, Feb. 9 will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at MECCA Chalet, and the 11K Classic Ski Race will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sunday’s events begin with packet pick up from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at WinMan Chalet, with the 11K Skate Ski Race running from 9 a.m. to noon. The Awards Ceremony and Post-Race Meal will be from noon to 1:30 p.m.

The Turtle River Pursuit has partnered with the Gogebic Range Health Foundation. The Foundation chose the Pursuit as a collaboration partner to promote healthy lifestyles and community involvement.
