The Lakeland gymnastics team traveled to Chequamegon on Monday night and lost 96.85-48.4 to the Screaming Eagles.

Sarah Thompson was the lone all-around performer for the Thunderbirds and she ended up with a respectable third-place finish with 25.20 points.

Chequamegon’s Kristina Peterson won the meet with 29.025 points while her teammate Kiana Schmidt took second with 26.075 points.

Peterson and Schmidt also took first and second in the balance beam with scores of 7.0 and 6.2 respectively. Lakeland’s Sarah Thompson took third with 5.7 points and Anna Thompson took fourth for the Thunderbirds with a 4.55.  

On the uneven bars, Chequamegon’s Schmidt won with a score of 6.4. Sarah Thompson came in second for the T-Birds with a score of 6.35. Peterson was third for the Screaming Eagles with a score of 5.925.

Other Lakeland competitors on the uneven bars were Julie Neuberg who took fourth with a 4.5. Cameron Teichmiller took seventh with a 3.2, followed by Anna Smith in eighth place with a 2.95 and Anna Thompson in ninth place with 2.9 points.

Chequamegon’s Peterson also won the vault with 8.1 points. Lakeland’s Julie Neuberg was second with an 8.0, followed by Schmidt of Chequamegon who scored a 7.9 for third.

Sarah Thompson of Lakeland took fifth in the vault with a 7.1.

She also took third in the floor exercise with a 6.05, behind Peterson and Taylor Pritzl of Chequamegon who scored 7.25 and 6.4 respectively.

Lakeland falls to 0-1 in the small schools division of the Great Northern Conference. They next perform at Rhinelander at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17.
