The Lakeland Nordic Ski Team will host a registration and informational meeting at 5:15 p.m., Monday, Oct. 29 in the Distance Learning room at Lakeland Union High School.

“The Lakeland Nordic Ski Team (LNST) is a not-for-profit organization that has provided the opportunity for Lakeland area youth to participate in cross country skiing throughout the winter for more than 32 years,” a club press release stated. “The purpose of the club is to promote the sport of Nordic skiing for children in the third through the 12th grades, and to enable each team member to reach his or her own individual potential.

“They are organized solely for educational, competitive, and recreational purposes,” the release continued. “The team continues to grow each year, as awareness and popularity continue to increase around physical activity, youth sports, and winter sports in particular. In the last year, alone, 82 youth participated in our program. We have a strong high school level of our program, with our team frequently bringing home state trophies. All of our fundraising efforts help support coaching and instructional fees, supplies & wax, team building and additional training opportunities, race registration fees and travel expenses for our team.”
